Before Starting, Read the Following Instructions

This quiz is here to help you. No one is going to evaluate your answers except for you, and of course anyone you show it to.

When you answer these questions, really try your best to answer honestly. Give your best answer, not the answer you think we would like to hear, or the answer your mom, brother, dad or uncle would give.

This was created, not to paint a giant neon sign reading, “BECOME A WELDER!”, but to give you an idea of the kinds of work you might enjoy.

Many of you will have little or no understanding of what working in a skilled trade is really like. Others will have a great deal of experience. This quiz is valuable for both types of people.

This quiz is a tool, and tools are at their most useful when properly used. Since this is a tool to help you select a career, we suggest you take your time.

How it Works

Each question counts as one point. Some questions refer to a specific trade and others reference a larger grouping of trades.

Don’t waste time trying to figure out which trade a question refers to; that will influence your answer. Try to answer each one as purely and uninfluenced as possible.

Understanding Your Score

This quiz is not designed to make your decision for you. Use it to help understand yourself, your likes, dislikes and interests, a little better.

Self-Assessment Best Practices

  1. You might not have a firm answer for every question. That’s ok. Pick the answer that best suites you.
  2. If you are in-between, make your best choice and move on; the following question might be related and give you a chance to balance your preferences.
  3. If there is something you definitely would not like to do, leave the question blank. But remember, the more blank answers the less helpful the quiz results will be.
