The Importance of Automotive Maintenance

There are over 250 million cars on the road, and that means there will always be a job for an auto-mechanic. Over the past few decades, the technology that goes into a typical automobile has become increasingly sophisticated. To meet changing standards in safety and fuel efficiency, the Automotive Technology training provided at New Castle School of Trades will allow students to work on those vehicles.

An automotive repair school will teach students everything they need; from simple oil changes to the full engine swap, so that they will have the skills to get ahead in a competitive market. Thanks to growing standards in features like safety, fuel efficiency, and comfort, today’s automotive repair technicians have to be more skilled than ever to make sure vehicles of all makes, models, and sizes are up to standards. That type of training can only be reached through the right education found through a qualified mechanic school that will show you just what it takes to be successful in the industry.

What Students Learn Through Automotive Technology Training

In order to become a skilled technician, trainees first need to create a foundation on which they can build their automotive repair skills.

With that in mind, it helps to know that the right automotive training school has training programs that are structured to provide entry-level job skills and knowledge necessary to enter the field as an automotive repair technician.

NCST was a great experience that provided me with more than just an education. I was able to start a career with a competitive offer before I even graduated. I landed a job with a reputable dealership using the education I received and connections the school offered me to make. Due to the relationships the school had with business owners in my field as well as the faculty’s willingness to attempt new opportunities with students, I have become more successful than I ever anticipated. I am proud to be an NCST alumni!”

Emily Fiorenza, New Castle Graduate

In the right program, a student will learn the essential skills in diagnosing problems and maintaining and servicing consumer-level automobiles. This comes from education led by experienced instructors who have spent years in the field and can teach students how to use automotive diagnostic equipment that you will likely find once they enter the job field.

Some of those specialized diagnostics a student will learn to use at NCST’s automotive school can include:

  • computerized automotive information systems
  • four-wheel computerized alignment machines
  • computerized wheel balancers
  • articulating arm tire machines
  • brake lathes
  • exhaust gas analyzers
  • computer scanners

Much of this equipment is standard issue in automotive repair shops all over the country, so an NCST student will be expected to be well-versed in the use of each by anyone looking to hire skilled technicians for their business.
